This Online Nutrition Certification, consists of 15 units:   

Unit 1 - An Overview of Nutrition

In the first unit, candidates are provided with a broad overview of nutrition and an investigation into the functions of the major nutrient classes in the human body.  Disease prevention and health promotion by way of positive dietary habits is introduced, along with the concept of the body mass index and how its values relate to obesity.

Unit 2 - Basics of Nutrition 1

The second unit focuses primarily on the role and function of carbohydrates, the health benefits of dietary fibre and the essential role protein plays within the human body.  Candidates are also introduced to the various sources of protein, along with an exploration of the difference between good and bad fats

Unit 3 - Basics of Nutrition 2

The nutrition theme continues into Unit 3, which shifts focus to vitamins and the role they play in human health.  Major and trace minerals are also studied in-depth, along with the differences between water-soluble and fat soluble-vitamins.

Unit 4 - Digestion and Detoxification

Course content then moves on to detoxification and digestion – with specific focus on the major enzyme in the human digestive process and how stress and anxiety can impact digestive health.  A variety of digestive disorders including constipation and indigestion are introduced, along with methods for building and maintaining a healthy digestive system.

Unit 5 - Eating Disorders

The core focus of Unit 5 easily eating disorders, defining and analysing a series of common eating disorders, along with their respective causes and effects.  Candidates explore bulimia, anorexia and binge eating habits, along with their potentially devastating effects on the human body.

Unit 6 - Balancing the Diet

The concept of the balanced diet is introduced and explored in the sixth unit, outlining the importance of balance and moderation when it comes to achieving healthy balance.  Candidates are guided through the specifics of healthy eating plans and how to construct a healthy and balanced dietary plan.

Unit 7 - Principles of Healthy Eating

Healthy eating continues into Unit 7, which provides candidates with a comprehensive overview of recommended daily intakes for a balanced and healthy diet.  Content covers a variety of topics including caffeinated drinks, sugars and fats, making the right food choices and several different cooking methods.

Unit 8 - Nutrition and the Immune System

In the eight unit, candidates are introduced to the relationship between the immune system and nutrition, along with a series of essential teachings on food sensitivities, allergies, intolerances and their respective causes.  How to strengthen and maintain the immune system via nutrition is also explored.

Unit 9 - Diet and Disease

The relationship between nutrition and human disease forms the core focus of Unit 9, incorporating an introduction to celiac disease, diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease.  A series of known risk factors are discussed, along with how such diseases can be prevented by way of sound dietary choices.

Unit 10 - Women’s Health

Women’s health is explored in-depth in Unit 10 – specifically in relation to the primary female hormones and how hormonal imbalance can cause various physical and emotional health problems, such as premenstrual syndrome.  The unit sheds light on how diet and nutrition can affect and impact women’s health, particularly during pregnancy and in later life.

Unit 11 - Nutrition Requirement for Different People

The way in which dietary and nutritional needs differ enormously from one person to the next forms the primary focus of this unit.  Course content looks closely at a variety of groups with very different nutritional requirements, including the elderly, babies and children, pregnant women and more.

Unit 12 - Weight Control Management

The maintenance of a healthy bodily weight is explored in Unit 12, which discusses the ways and means by which a healthy weight can be achieved and retained by way of nutrition and dietary choices.

Unit 13 - Weight Loss Management

In the following unit, the same theme continues with an investigation into the effects of weight loss on the human body and why it is that some people face much greater problems in losing weight and maintaining a healthy bodily weight than others.  The key differences between healthy and unhealthy weight loss are also introduced and discussed.

Unit 14 - Anti-ageing formulas

The core focus of the penultimate unit is that of the link between nutrition and the maintenance of a youthful external aesthetic.  Candidates are introduced to the ways in which a healthy eating habits and lifestyle choices in general are able to promote and preserve health both inside and out.

Unit 15 - The Role of a Nutritionist

The final course unit builds on the teachings of all prior units by outlining to and exploring the role of the professional nutritionist.  Content covers what it is the modern nutritionist does, why their role is of such importance to modern society and how the nutritionist goes about planning and implementing dietary advice for the benefit of their clients/patients.
