Course content than moves away from PR theory to introduce the actual public relations process – how PR professionals do what they do to achieve the desired result. Candidates investigate the internal, macro and external environments along with specific public relations roles and tasks.

Unit 4 – Public Relations and Communication

Communication forms the core focus of the fourth unit which introduces candidates to public relations planning and how the planning process should be approached. The importance of proactivity, forethought and strong communication represents the main theme of the unit.

Unit 5 – Corporate Public Relations

Public relations in a business capacity is explored throughout the fifth unit, in which candidates discover how PR can be put to use specifically for the benefit of a brand or business. Topics include human resource development, corporate planning and corporate media relations.

Unit 6 – Production of Public Relations Materials

Essential public relations materials are introduced in the sixth unit, along with how and why they should be put to practical use. The unit explores printed PR materials, external and internal communications, corporate publication requirements and more.

Unit 7 – Media Relations

In the seventh and final unit, the course concludes with an investigation of business relations with the media. Candidates explore the power and influence the media can have over a business, incorporating essential crisis management and media monitoring theory.
