The course consists of the following six units:

Unit 1 – Introduction to Supply Chain and Logistics

The first unit delivers an insightful and important introduction to the concept of the supply chain and business logistics.  Candidates discover the basics of physical movements within the supply chain, the benefits of establishing dependable supply chains and where modern logistics fit in.

Unit 2 – Planning & Sourcing Operations

In this unit, the course shifts focus to forward planning and forecasting, introducing candidates to a variety of forecasting methods, aggregate planning and operations planning. The unit also touches upon the core subject elements of credit risk-management and procurement.

Unit 3 – Managing Procurement

The third unit delves deeper into procurement, covering the subjects of sourcing suppliers, supplier performance monitoring, the various purchase types within the procurement cycle and logistical interfaces. Candidates begin to build an understanding of the supply chain in motion. 

Unit 4 – Managing Manufacturing Operations

In the fourth unit, the course focuses on the management of manufacturing operations, covering product design, the scheduling of product production and the management of product delivery schedules. 

Unit 5 – Inventory Management

Candidates are introduced to the importance of inventory management and balance in unit 5, which incorporates the maintenance of a workable supply and demand buffer, stock control techniques, stock types and the concept of safety stock. 

Unit 6 – Transport Management

The sixth and final unit moves onto the physical transportation of goods/services, incorporating an investigation of transportation services, modes of transport and the management of physical logistics.
