Module 1 - What is Environment?

The course begins with a detailed examination of the definition of ‘environment’ and its importance to society. The functions and objectives of environmental management are also discussed, along with the duties and responsibilities of those who work in the field and the growing threat posed by major environmental issues worldwide.  Ecosystems and the manmade environment are also introduced and discussed.

Module 2 - Environmental Planning Strategies

Candidates then consider the importance of strategic planning in the field of environmental management, along with how to produce accurate environmental forecasts and predictions.  The primary principles of sustainable development are discussed, along with sustainability as a wider concept, planning for future environmental issues and an introduction to environmental evolution.

Module 3 - Environmental Management Systems

In the third and final module, course content introduces a series of contemporary environmental management systems and their functions.  Candidates are familiarised with general environmental management standards, along with environmental accounting, the objectives of environmental audits, how to conduct impact assessments, an introduction to energy efficiency and the use of ISO standards in environmental management.
