Unit 1 – The Basics of Business Writing

In the opening course unit, candidates explore the fundamental basics of business writing, including the importance of advanced-level writing skills from a contemporary corporate perspective.  A series of writing basics are introduced and explored, including appropriate use of punctuation, sentences and sentence types, use of the active and passive voice and the identification of your own personal writing style.

Unit 2 – The Stages of Report Writing

The second course unit focuses more specifically on business report writing.  Candidates are guided through the four key stages in business report production; carrying out the necessary investigations, planning the report in full, writing the report professionally and ultimately analysing/revising the report as necessary.

Unit 3 – Using Headings, Charts and Graphs

Course content in the third unit centres around the theme of visual aids and their value/limitations when used as business document components.  Along with an introduction to headings, charts and graphs, candidates are provided with valuable insights with regard to when and how graphics in general should be used.

Unit 4 – The Proposal

Writing business proposals is the primary focus of Unit 4, which along with exploring the core components and purpose of the business proposal also guides candidates through a series of tips for making their proposals more effective and persuasive.  Putting the finishing touches to a proposal also enters the discussion.

Unit 5 – Persuasion

In the fifth and final course unit, the subject of persuasion is explored in greater depth and with greater focus.  Candidates are guided through the persuasion process, along with how to deal with tough questions, giving credit where due to others and ultimately designing and refining a message.
