Unit 1 – What is Social Media?
In the first course unit, candidates are broadly introduced to the concept of social media, in relation to its power and potential as a marketing tool. The introductory unit also investigates the concept of the marketing mix, along with the ‘Five Ps’ – Profiles, Propagation, Production, Participation and Progress.
Unit 2 – Developing a Social Media Plan
The creation of an efficient and effective social media plan represents the core focus of the second unit, which also introduces the social media ‘expert’. Candidates begin to build an understanding of how to establish and expand a digital presence, budget appropriately for social media marketing campaigns and carry out competitive analysis.
Unit 3 – Building Your Social Media Team
Social media team creation and management is investigated in Unit 3, incorporating the use of key social media metrics to analyse performance, identify problems and build on successes. Candidates also explore the importance of keeping in line with current social media trends, working with the social media community and limiting/controlling damage.
Unit 4 – Using Social Media for Marketing Plans
In the final unit of the course, candidates explore several of the most important and powerful social media platforms currently in use, along with the impact and importance of blogging from a business perspective.
