Unit 1 – Fundamentals of Business Communication

The first unit outlines the basics of business communication, discussing in-depth the importance of clear and concise writing from a business perspective. Course content covers choosing the right words, effective communication methods and how to sign off. The various courtesies and mannerisms required in business communications are also introduced.

Unit 2 – Writing Business Letters

The second unit focuses predominantly on the writing of business letters, incorporating the steps involved in penning professional communications and the most important sections.  Candidates are provided with a broad-scale introduction to the various types of business letters, along with an in-depth investigation into the mechanics of the effective business letter.

Unit 3 – Writing Effective Emails

Effective email writing forms the primary focus of the third unit, outlining the basic skills, techniques and fundamentals of writing emails for business along with essential email management.  Candidates are also introduced to the impact and importance of grammar, spelling and proofreading business communications.

Unit 4 – Writing Memos

The fourth unit turns attention to business memo writing, investigating what exactly it is that a memo is used for and why it is of such importance.  A series of common challenges in relation to effective memo writing are also introduced, along with effective document review techniques.

Unit 5 – Communicating Effectively by Telephone

The final unit of the course rounds off with an exploration of the importance of effective communication via telephone. Candidates are provided with exercises to develop and hone quality telephone communications skills, while investigating request-handling and dealing with challenging situations.
