Module 1 - Effective Leadership

An introduction to effective leadership is provided in the first module, in which candidates consider the qualities and characteristics of the ideal leadership figure.  Helpful guidelines are also provided for candidates transitioning to leadership roles for the first time, along with the different leadership styles and how to set goals in accordance with the SPIRIT methodology.

Module 2 - Defining, Evaluating and Managing Teams

The importance of trust and respect at the heart of both leadership and team-based working environments is discussed in the second module, which presents a series of tips for establishing trust with team members.  Candidates also consider the various different team types, along with the primary advantages and potential disadvantages of team-based work.

Module 3 - Developing a High-Performing Team

The concept of the high-performing team is presented and discussed in module three, along with a detailed breakdown of the five primary phases of high-performing team development.  The benefits of creating and maintaining a high-performing team are also discussed, along with the concept of the ‘good team player’ and the performance management responsibilities of the team leader.

Module 4 - Strategic Planning

Strategic planning from a team leadership perspective is examined in the fourth module, in which candidates learn how to confidently, effectively and professionally delegate duties.  A detailed breakdown of the ‘five levels of delegation’ is also provided, along with how to perform SWOT analysis as a team leader and the role of accountability in leadership.

Module 5 – Managing Change in the workplace     

An introduction to change management in team leadership is provided in the fifth module, in which candidates consider the benefits and importance of managing change in a positive and proactive way.  The importance of effective forward planning is also discussed, alongside a series of helpful tips and guidelines for improved time management in a leadership role.

Module 6 – Managing Conflict in the workplace 

Concluding the course, module six covers the conflict management and resolution responsibilities of the team leader.  Candidates are introduced to the five primary conflict resolution styles, while assessing the importance of and addressing conflict at the earliest possible stage and the role of the ‘needs and assumptions model’ in workplace conflict management.
