Module 2 - Interior Design Principles

Module 3 - Design Elements

The four fundamental interior design elements are then presented and discussed in module three - textures, patterns, colour and space.  Candidates begin to build an understanding of the importance of approaching interior design in a structured and organized manner.

Module 4 - Room Elements

The characteristics of the more physical room elements are discussed in module four, which includes the appropriate use of furniture, fixtures, floor coverings, wallcoverings, lighting, artwork and accessories.  Each of which is considered by way of its contribution to effective interior design.

Module 5 - Room by Room Designing

The advantages of tackling an interior design project one room at a time are examined in the fifth module.  The importance of meticulously planning all aspects of an interior design project is revisited, along with how to ensure the cohesiveness of the final result from one room within the property to the next.

Module 6 - The Client-Designer Relationship

Helpful tips and techniques for building and maintaining strong client-designer relationships are presented in module six.  A breakdown of the professional client consultation process is provided, along with the importance of accurately establishing clients’ expectations ahead of time and an overview of the project ‘vision’ stage.

Module 7 - Planning Essentials

A more detailed breakdown of the interior design project planning process follows in module seven, which also outlines the value of strategic planning.  Candidates learn how to plan for all possible contingencies, work with project planning tools and plan effectively to overcome unexpected challenges as the project progresses.

Module 8 - The Stages of a Project

The professional interior design project is then broken down into its component stages, each of which is dissected and discussed at length.  Candidates study the progression of the project at every stage - planning, implementation, supervision, optimisation, completion and analysis - along with the importance of gathering and working with customer feedback.

Module 9 - Starting an Interior Design Business

Concluding the course, module nine provides a crash-course introduction to interior design entrepreneurship.  The advantages and challenges associated with business ownership are discussed, along with how to successfully launch, market and ultimately run a professional interior design business.
