This intermediate Level 2 Certificate in Interior Design provides a fascinating introduction to one of the world’s most inspiring sectors.  Course content is distributed over a series of four modules, which conclude with online assessments for submission to your assigned tutor:

Module 1 - An Introduction to the Interior Design Profession

The course begins by providing candidates with a detailed overview of the contemporary interior design profession, along with the primary duties and responsibilities of the expert interior designer.  The fundamentals of residential design are also introduced, along with the importance of building strong vendor/supplier relationships and common challenges in interior design.

Module 2 - Design Elements

Module two introduces candidates to the four most important design elements and their respective functions - textures, patterns, colour and space.  Each of these contributory design elements is considered individually and as a fundamental ‘building block’ of a successful interior design project.

Module 3 - The Principles of Design

Candidates are then presented with a detailed dissection of the seven most important interior design principles - Contrast, Balance, Scale, Proportion, Unity, Variety and Emphasis.  The importance of meticulously planning all aspects of an interior design project in accordance with these principles is discussed in depth.

Module 4 - Room Elements

The course concludes with an examination of several important decorative and functional elements for the interior designer.  Candidates learn how to carefully consider the use of window dressings, mirrors, floor coverings, artwork, general furniture, wall coverings, lighting fixtures and other complementary room elements.
