Module 1 - Introduction to Forensic Accounting

Candidates are presented with a detailed overview of the forensic accountancy profession in module one, which also examines the functions and objectives of forensic accounting. Key roles and responsibilities within a wider fraud prevention team are also discussed, along with the requirement for both external and internal audits in forensic accountancy.

Module 2 - Psychology of The Fraudster

The second module seeks to build a profile of the contemporary fraudster, with a fascinating introduction to criminal psychology.  Candidates learn how to more accurately identify the characteristics and behaviours of potential fraudsters, along with the most common motivations for fraudulent activities and why some businesses and individuals face a greater risk of being targeted.

Module 3 - The Investigative Process

Concluding the course, module three details the fundamentals of the investigative process, while considering the importance of detecting fraudulent activity at the earliest possible stage.  Candidates also learn how to begin planning and preparing a case against individuals suspected of fraud, along with tips for establishing realistic objectives and how to accurately assess the strength of a case.

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievementfrom ABC Awards and Certa Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).

The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards and Certa Awards Quality Licence Scheme. This means that Brentwood open learning college has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The completion of this course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 1 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.
