Unit 1 - An Introduction to Event Planning

The opening course unit provides candidates with a broad introduction to the concept of the event from a modern perspective.  Exactly what an event represents, what is expected of the event planner and how to both anticipate and exceed the expectations of clients are outlined and studied.

Unit 2 - Types of Event

In the second course unit, course content turns to the various types of events contemporary wedding planning services are brought in to assist with.  Candidates are introduced to a wide variety of social events, personal events, business events and public events, along with a variety of key planning principles unique to each.

Unit 3 - The Event Planning Process

The third course unit focuses more intensively on the event planning process, introducing candidates to the most critical considerations of all in the initial planning stages.  Candidates begin to build an understanding of how and why planning represents the most important element in the event management process, impacting the outcome of every subsequent element/stage.

Unit 4 - Steps in Planning in Event

Event planning continues into Unit 4, which brings into conversation the four most essential components of the event planning process – planning & execution, monitoring, controlling and closing.  Candidates explore each of these core event planning areas, both in isolation and as a link in the event planning chain where each element must be given equal priority.

Unit 5 - The Event Management Plan

The event management plan represents one of the most important documents of all for the professional events planner.  This is the document in which everything from staffing to timetables to fire safety to licensing to key contractors to essential communications is detailed in full and as concisely/accurately as possible.  The specific content of the event management plan varies from one event type to the next.

Unit 6 - Marketing and Customer Services

The sixth course unit focuses on event marketing and the provision of high quality customer service.  Candidates are introduced to the establishment of marketing objectives, a variety of effective marketing techniques and the importance of the professional marketing plan.  Understanding and meeting the needs of the event’s target audience is also explored in-depth.
